My Story
I started spinning at Carter high school my freshman year. I instantly fell in love with this sport, and quickly became leadership becoming captain when I was a junior, and held that title until I graduated from Carter. I immediately came back to teach, and over the almost 4 years I have been teaching, I've developed a true passion for helping these amazing kids grow.
I currently spin for an independent team based in Knoxville called Beau Monde. This is my first independent season, but I plan to continue marching until I can’t anymore! I strongly believe in the principles that color/winterguard can teach students, such as working well in groups or independently, timeliness, and how to balance fun with hard work. My absolute favorite time of year is band camp, because we get to meet all the new members and watch how quickly these incredible groups of kids can learn and grow. (Also baked potato day. It’s the best!) I cannot express how deeply I adore this sport and everything it has taught me. My #1 goal is to give kids something to be proud of themselves for. Something that they can look back on and smile. I hope that I have at least the smallest part in making high school a positive memory. Color guard is one of the most loving, diverse, and accepting communities out there. It means the world to me, and I want to give that to as many as possible. Teaching has become my passion, all because of this wonderful program.
